Post natal depression and mental illness is rife at the moment, it’s really time people got more support, rather than been fobbed off with tablets that just sugar coat an underlying problem. I think it’s extremely important we support new mums/mums and dads after they’ve just had a new baby or have children. It’s a very overwhelming time in someone’s life and a lot of people are scared to talk about how they feel due to the nature of the subject. People are scared if they say how they really feel they will be judged, have their child taken off them or they are a bad parent. Suffering is not a sign of weakness. Something in the NHS needs to be put in place where people can get more suppprt and more support off their health visitors instead of been rushed off the phone or having a rushed visit. Sometimes the problem is not visible and sometimes people just need extra help and know everything is going to be ok and this dark time will pass. I really want funding for the NHS, this is something where money would be spent well. I was on the verge of having depression when I had to start taking the mini pill just after birth, I was lucky enough to have a great support unit and take myself off the pill and pull Myself out of a very dark time. I also had post traumatic stress and I also had feeding issues. It’s ok not to be ok, it’s just very important you speak to someone, you get it sorted. Speak up today you are not alone! Please sign this petition in the hope we can make a difference.

Many Thanks,

Emma x
