As part of my Girl Scout Gold Award, "Your Voice Counts," I am striving to ratify the The Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) in the state of Florida. 

The ERA states: "Equality of rights under the law shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any state on account of sex."

The ERA federally guarantees that everyone, regardless of sex, is legally subjected to receive the same treatment under the law. Currently, the only law that is guaranteed to everyone is the right to vote, which is listed in the 19th Amendment. With the ERA, each sex would be federally protected and granted every right that is listed in the Constitution.

The ERA is highly beneficial to both men and women. Issues such as wages, employment, and custody, which pertain to both sexes, would be effected by the ERA, leading to equality under the law regardless of sex.
