Introduce a youth Club in Chesterfield to remove anti-social behaviour
Why this petition matters
We are a part of National Citizen Service and during our social action project, we visited Chesterfield town centre and performed a survey. Our survey concluded that the general public believe that one of the most prevalent social issues in Chesterfield is the anti-social behaviour from the younger generations.
Most anti-social behaviour comes from children aged 11-17 year olds and from personal observations, the effects of COVID 19 and the results of the survey it appears that the age range is lowering.
COVID 19 has isolated our younger population and in light of 'opening up', they are seeking freedom and enjoyment, however, this isn't necessarily directed in the right way in terms of their behaviour and ability to understand social situations.
A study from UK youth shows that the areas with higher anti-social behaviour rates have little to no youth clubs in that area. Therefore, evidencing that a youth club in chesterfield will likely reduce the current levels of anti-social behaviour.
By signing this petition, you are aiding our mission to approach the council about the instigation of a youth club aimed at children aged 10-16.
The aim is to overall, provide young people with a safe place to experience social interaction, with guidance from professionals, whilst providing fun and enjoyment.
