COVID-19 virus is rapidly spreading in Netherland. It is highly contagious and there is no medicine for this decease at the moment. The person who is carrier of this virus is not displaying the symptoms within first two weeks after being infected. However during this time they may spread the virus.

During spring break some student of ISU and their families visited Italy, which is epicentre of this virus in Europe. Therefore there is a high probability that they are the carriers of the virus unknowingly.

We, many parents of ISU students , are terrified to witness how would the situation will turn up in next two weeks. At the same time we are also concerned about uninterrupted education of our child. And we are unable to discuss our concerns to the school authorities.

Under these circumstances we would like to request you to

  1. Close down the school for next two week to quarantine the students. We believe this could be one of the necessary precautionary measure to be taken at the moment.

[ Note: Quarantine means separating a person or group of people who have been exposed to a contagious disease but have not developed illness (symptoms) from others who have not been exposed, in order to prevent the possible spread of that disease. Quarantine is usually established for the incubation period of the communicable disease, which is the span of time during which people have developed illness after exposure. For COVID-19, the period of quarantine is 14 days from the last date of exposure, because 14 days is the longest incubation period seen for similar coronaviruses. Someone who has been released from COVID-19 quarantine is not considered a risk for spreading the virus to others because they have not developed illness during the incubation period.

  2. Enable students to continue their studies online.
  3. If necessary , shorten the summer vacation to compensate the lack of study hours.
  4. Allow parents to have open conversation with the school authority on the topic COVID-19.

Prevention is better than cure. Hope that you understand our concern and take appreciate actions.
