We hereby ask that the International School of Hamburg follows corona recommendations and rulings, as declared by the Hamburg state and within the country of Germany. This includes masks for children can be dropped as soon as 4th April 2022 at least at their desks.

We ask for clear and transparent communication with parents and stakeholders on which data, medical/epidemiological/legal grounds the School bases any upcoming decisions.

These rules follow clear health guidelines and evidence-based data and as such the school has no legal authority or medical expertise to go beyond and above these rules.

German rules (although stricter than in most countries) have been adapted continuously as the pandemic has gone on, reflecting the difference between the Delta and the Omicron variants.

However the International School Hamburg has  taken it up on itself to not implement these reflections and continuously adopt their own rulings that are usually stricter than even the rulings set forth by the Hamburg state (currently the strictest in Germany and even in Europe).

All this without being transparent in why these decisions are enforced, based on what evidence-based data and not involving the community of parents and other stakeholders in their decision making process.

We ask that the school follows Hamburg corona rules that as of 4th April 2022 allows children to drop masks at their desks. We also ask that in future the School follows Hamburg rules and recommendations to deal with the current endemic phase of this disease.
