I became disabled several years ago when I was diagnosed with RSD/CRPS. I've recently started going to a gym where my trainer is working with me and my disability, who told me I was a natural at rowing. I was like wow, wouldn't it be great to compete at the paralympics if I trained really hard? To then read an article last night about the archer who won gold in Beijing and London with CRPS that was unable to compete again due to the change of rules for disabilities that can compete. Since CRPS doesn't always have a visible disability, they exclude it. That is the dumbest thing I've ever read. Yes, it's a rare degenerative disease, but we don't just endure pain. We deal with temperature changes, triggers from vibrations, edemas, swelling, atrophy, etc. If this system needs proof, I have years of doctors visits, specialist visits, pictures and videos. ALL disabilities should be recognized and all these people deserve to compete! This needs to change! People deserve the right to compete no matter their disability, they deserve to have their journeys told and conquered just like any other athlete!

How can you say CP, spina bifida, and other clear disabilities aren’t “enough”?? What is wrong with you?

Disability is disability, why should disabled people be excluded from the sports they enjoy and do well in because they don't score "enough" on a skewed system that isn't fit for purpose?
