Crystal Greer started this petition to International Olympics Committee and

Sha'Carri Richardson was left off of the USA Track & Field Tokyo Olympics roster following a 1-month suspension of testing positive for marijuana. Before testing positive, Sha'Carri made a tremendous impact on the many Black women across the country.

Many Black women suffer from the systemic racial and gender inequality embedded in our nation's history. Most, still traumatized by the death of Breonna Taylor, a young Black woman who worked as a paramedic, shot to death in her sleep, has yet to receive justice because of "qualified immunity," a policy established by the Supreme Court in 1967 to protect police officers from "personal liability."

The decision to leave the fastest woman in America off the roster to compete in the Olympics after she publicly disclosed losing her biological mother is not an act of integrity to the policies of the Anti-Doping Agency and USATF; it's an act of insensitivity to the pressures Black women continuously see across America.

Our country maintains racially motivated policies that prohibit Black lives from being treated equally and fairly. Black women [and mothers] have to continue dealing with trauma every day without a sign of solidarity, justice, or support.

The USATF and the International Olympics Committee (IOC) must destigmatize mental illness from traumatization in the Black and Brown community, add Sha'Carri Richardson back to the roster for Tokyo, and amend the outdated policies of the Anti-Doping Agency to reflect the legalization of marijuana in key states across America.
