Lorena Forrest started this petition to International Olympic Committee and

All hair is not created equal! So why are we trying to make it harder in our black athletes by restricting the sports equipment that they need. FINA (The Federation for International Competitions in Water Sports) has rejected the use of Soul Caps, a black owned business company that makes water caps for those with natural black hair. These caps are designed specifically to help our black swimmers protect their hair, which factors in large the reason why there is so little diversity in the sport! Why did they decline it? Well because according to the Federation "it does not fit the natural form of the head". However this is not true and speaking with those professional athletes like Alicia Dearing, who is the First Black Female Swimmer to represent Team GB in the Olympics, who has partnered up with Soul Caps, can attest to! We need to make a difference in our sports as they seem to have all of these awful underlying racists rules, that go hand in hand with the stereotypes out there. Soul Caps are also more accessible to swimmers of all levels who use them!
