To begin wrestling most pure form of skill and competition which dates back to the beginning of man kind. The first time small children "play" with each other as toddlers they are rolling around and wrestling. There is no other pure modern day sport which provides true 1 vs. 1 competition and has a clear cut victor as wrestling does. Wrestling was in the original Modern Olympic Games in 1896, as well as a crucial and pertinent focus of the ancient Olympic Games. The IOC's decisions to remove it from the list of core sports for the 2020 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro is absurd and an outrage. Currently over 70 countries participate in wrestling, which is exceptionally higher than many other sports. Going into detail about which sports these are is unnecessary, as we do not want to slander or detract from other events, but more so reinforce the necessity of reinstating wrestling as a core sport. Wrestling is extremely popular internationally as well as within the United States. In the U.S. wrestling is the sixth most popular sport at the collegiate level, ranking about Soccer, Golf, Volleyball, Swimming, and Gymnastics. All of these sports remain on the roster for the 2020 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Understood it is an international event, this does not make sense logically. As former, current, and future wrestlers, wrestling fans, and family members of wrestlers petitioning for the IOC to keep wrestling in it's list of core sports.
