IOC: allow refugee athletes to carry the flag of The Refugee Nation in the Olympics.

For the first time ever, there are 10 refugee athletes participating in this year’s games. And while the International Olympic Committee has generously offered to let them compete using the Olympic flag, we wanted to give these brave souls something more.

Their very own nation, with their very own flag. Even their very own national anthem.

The flag of the Refugee Nation was created by the artist Yara Said, a Syrian refugee. Its colors are orange and black, the same colors as the life vests Yara herself and other refugees once wore as they crossed rough seas in search of a better life. The colors are bold. Meaningful. And can’t be ignored.

And with your help, they won’t be.

With your support—with your voice—we can get the International Olympic Committee to allow these refugee athletes to carry something of their very own: the flag of the Refugee Nation, not just the Olympic flag. Something that was created just for them, rather than something that was created for an entire event.

Join us in asking the IOC in making this possible. And making a difference for not just these ten athletes, but the millions of refugees around the world.
