U.S. sprinter Sha'Carri Richardson has been suspended for one month after she tested positive for marijuana. That means that Richardson will not be able to run in the Olympics in Tokyo.Richardson qualified for the Olympics after winning the 100-meter race at the U.S. Olympic Track and Field Trials in Eugene, Oregon, and was considered a favorite to win the gold medal. I am petitioning for her to be reconsidered. Marijuana has become legal in more and more states. Some employers have removed marijuana from their drug test because it is more a medicine than a recreational substance. Richardson is a very talented young women. It saddens many communities to see her be suspended. She is also going through a loss. We see her as a strong role model for children with her same dream. Please reconsider her suspension.
