Why this petition matters

In signing this petition, you will be voting for the inclusion of Submission Grappling into the Olympics games. As one of the fastest growing sports in the world today and an influence on much of the greatest combat athletes of all time, we believe it would be an injustice for competitive Grappling not to be included.

With a large number of the global population already practising and a great deal of elite athletes competing for world championships in multiple disciplines of Grappling, it's seems as if now is the time these martial arts to fuse into one all encompassing competition, under a ruleset that maintains the integrity of the current Olympic sports of judo and wrestling, while reintroducing the significant aspects of submission holds. Please sign this petition in recognition of this great sport and inform any others that have the belief this sport belongs on the biggest stage of competition around the world.

The debate about Jiu jitsu being added to the Olympics has rolled off the tongue of many high profile individuals and while we appreciate their efforts, we believe the fundamental flaw in their argument is the exclusion of all grappling arts in favor of one specific art. Where do Sambo athletes fall in this argument. Many have argued Jiu jitsu is unnecessary because of judo and wrestling be so similar. This is why we are petitioning for a new approach. Instead of having different disciplines with different rule sets, The National Grappling League proposes a ruleset that combines the fundamentals of all the main grappling arts. Now is the time to do what the Olympics have always done, give a voice and a platform for athletes to represent their respective disciplines infront of the largest audience in the world.
