Artistic swimming, formerly known as synchronised swimming, has been an Olympic discipline since the Olympic Games in Los Angeles in 1984. Ever since, male artistic swimmers have been banned from official international competitions. That includes World and European Championships as well as the Olympic Games.

In November 2014, FINA (The International Swimming Federation) announced that a new event in artistic swimming would be included in all future World Championships. The new event is called mixed duet, a duo of two artistic swimmers, one male and one female. The first official championship to include this event was at the 2015 World Championships held in Kazan, Russia. LEN (The European Swimming Federation) did the same, the first EC with mixed duets being the 2016 European Championships held in London, the United Kingdom. The event has been a huge success and appreciated by the world. The sport has grown a lot since this decision, especially male artistic swimmers. This decision allowed dreams to finally come true.

However, till this day, male artistic swimmers are NOT allowed to participate or qualify to the Olympic Games making it still an all female discipline in the competition. The International Olympic Committee once again decided not to include men and mixed duets in the next Olympic Games in Paris 2024, destroying thousands of dreams within the community. This decision is toxic to our community of artistic swimming, and it hinders diversity, representation, equality and equity.

The artistic swimming community wants to appeal this terrible decision made by the IOC and YOU can help us by signing this petition. ANY SIGNATURES ARE WELCOME. Anyone despite age, gender identity, background, nationality, colour of skin, sexuality are welcome to sign this petition. By signing, you support the artistic swimming community on our journey to approve men in Olympic artistic swimming. THANK YOU!
