The International Hotel School first halted its graduation ceremonies as the  COVID-19 wave progressed in the country last year. This was very heartbreaking to many of the graduating "chefies" as we would often times be called as we worked so hard on our studies during the pandemic. All International Hotel Schools have enough space to host a graduation ceremony whilst still adhering to the restrictions that are in place. 

Our day to day lives are becoming more and more normal as more people are getting vaccinated and a lot of governmental restrictions are being lifted. As this is the case, it is very easy to present a negative covid test to campus and therefore this should be one of the requirements to the attend the graduation ceremony. All IHS campuses can do something better for their graduating students, other than holding a virtual graduation and a photo session for yet another graduation

As students we believe that IHS is only trying to take the easy way out and does not want to hold ceremonies. We also think it is unfair to not hold a graduation ceremony in the name of COVID restrictions, because we were still required to come to campus and to attend WIL in worse restrictions than the current ones. Furthermore, if the real issue is about having a lot of graduates and not enough space to slot them all in at once, then each campus can divide their students equally according to the course and qualification they are getting.
