Violence Against a Child at Chosen International Secondary School, Mgbidi, Oru West LGA, Imo State

This is Christabel Okotrinse Alasia; she is 16 years old and is in Senior Secondary School (SSS) 3 at Chosen International Secondary School, Mgbidi, the headquarters of Oru West LGA in Imo State. At exactly 19:08 of Sunday, 7th July, 2019 my mom sent me these disturbing photos of my younger sister, followed by messages narrating how this unfortunate incident occurred. The information is that a security man for the school (Mr. Chibuzor Nwachukwu) hit her with a plank because she tried to intervene when another sick student was being beaten by him.

 

This is pure wickedness, and will not stand. To think that that man is still being allowed to be anywhere near children, is greater madness. The school authority is dragging its feet at taking appropriate action against him, rather treating him with kid’s gloves. God of mercy!

 

Severally, we have asked that the culprit be handed over to the police for necessary actions to no avail. How does one explain this kind of cruelty against another person’s child? Tears fall from my eyes each time I pause to think about this madness.

 

The school should know very well that we will press charges for someone to have the audacity to inflict this kind of harm to this child like this. It is criminal for the school to continually allow that madman to remain free against all wise council. We have severally requested that he should be handed over to police for investigation and prosecution, yet the school principal (Mr. Chikezie Ukoma) defied that request. Meanwhile, the Dean of Studies (Pastor Charles Okorie) refused to answer his calls nor reply text messages sent to him on the matter.

To even think that this should be happening when the poor child is preparing for an important examination (NECO) in her life is very callous. Does this man have his own side of the story? Was he out of his mind? What was he actually thinking? That she fell from the skies? These are questions begging for answers on why this child, or any other child for that matter, deserve this?

For inflicting such harm, we shall ask for justice; for the pain and trauma, we shall seek justice; for the stress, we shall need justice; for all that this child is going through, he must pay!

Parents whose children are in this school, be on notice that there is a madman on the loose and no child is immune from an insane creature as this.

I also call on the relevant agencies charged with oversighting these school to rise to the occasion for sanity to return because this is certainly out of control.

We will stop at nothing to get justice.
