ALLOW HUMBER INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS TO REGISTER FOR ONLINE CLASSES

Humber has a policy that requires international students to present a study permit before registration, while this is understandable in regular circumstances, as we are in a global pandemic, international students are left behind and ignored because of this policy. We understand that the school needs evidence of permission to study in Canada, however, as this semester will be online we want to ask for an extension. "We are Global" is Humbers saying, but we cannot be global without our international students. Many students have applied for their permits long ago, but as many countries are still in lockdown, students are unable to do their biometrics and necessary interviews or medical exams to obtain the permit, not to mention that the IRCC also has slowed down processing times. As most programs are online this semester, international Humber students are requesting that the school allows those whose program will be ONLINE to register for classes like everyone else as long as they have proof of a pending study permit. It is very unfair that students have to sacrifice their right and chance to quality education for something that is very out of their control (COVID-19 Pandemic). Students deserve to participate in education and classes, especially if it is online and they have paid fees. International students feel as though they are often forgotten, ignored, and left without answers. We ask that you sign the petition and share it so we can present it to the school administration! Thank you for your time, compassion, and help.
