Prosecuting the Iraqi Prime Minister "Adil Abdul-Mahdi" for Crimes Against Humanity

Prosecuting the Iraqi Prime Minister "Adil Abdul-Mahdi" for Crimes Against Humanity
Why this petition matters

On October 2019, thousands of Iraqis protested peacefully demanding the Iraqi government to provide them with jobs, and to improve the basic public services and quality of life in Iraq.
The majority of the protesters were young Iraqis who are struggling to find a decent job in a country that is rich with oil, and other natural resources. The protesters blamed the Iraqi politicians for the ongoing downgrade in the economy and accused them with corruption and embezzling the oil revenues.
Consequently, the Iraqi security forces brutally replied by using deadly tactics, and war strategies. Because of that, hundreds of civilians were killed, thousands were injured, and many were detained without prosecution.
According to the Iraqi constitution, the prime minister is the commander in chief, which means all military operations will take place under his/her control. Therefore, the current prime minister, Adil Abdul-Mahdi, must be held accountable for these senseless crimes against humanity.
Bringing these crimes to the "International Criminal Court" and prosecuting the Iraqi prime minister will bring justice to the people of Iraq and will prevent similar horrendous crimes from happening in the future.
