Looking at the long persisting problem of cricketing world raised due to Duckworth Lewis method, we believe that there is need of change in current system for deciding unfinished matches. We have done fully fledged research on D/L method. Also, we have analysed all the matches which were decided by D/L and 83% of those were against the momentum carrying team. In the wake this problem we have thought of no of alternatives to this method.
At the end we came to the conclusion that the best and the most entertaining method would be below:
1- At the start of every match a super over should be played between both teams. its result will be considered only if the match is undecided at the end.
2- D/L should be applied only for reducing no of overs, but not to decide the winning team.
3- All the matches should reach to the finish line, targets can be revised using D/L method.
4- After applying D/L method for chasing team, minimum five overs should be played.
1- All the matches will have a clear winner that too based on their performance.
2- Application of limited D/L method will lead to help in making the match as long as possible,
3- Problems of D/L method such as momentum of a team, washout without being completed 70 overs will be diminished.
