West Bay YAC for IHL started this petition to INTERNATIONAL COURT OF JUSTICE

Weapons of war are developing everyday. Times are changing, and as we make greater advances and strides in technology, we need new laws that keep up with these new developments.

Today, humans are putting themselves on battlefields fighting to defend our country - in a century, robots and machines may be there in our place. These machines are known as lethal autonomous weapons (LAWs), military robots that can independently search for and engage targets based on programmed constraints and descriptions. LAWs are able to operate in the air, in the water, on land, and in areas that humans are physically unable to fight in.

Everyone must know that even though there are benefits to using autonomous weapons, there are also drawbacks.  What if the system is confused between the difference of civilians or war targets?  No one knows how detrimental the nature of war can become without putting rules on autonomous weapons.
