A frigate is a type of warship, originally constructed to escort merchant ships that had little to no defenses of their own. The name implies defense, but frigatebirds are not defensive in nature.

Renaming them to piratebirds is far more descriptive. The birds "dress" like pirates in their  iridescent black feathers and  red or white underbellies. Additionally, The birds' feeding habits often include robbing other seabirds of their catch, using their speed and maneuverability to out-fly their victims.

In short, renaming the birds from frigatebird to piratebird would be more representative of their "personality"
