Move the 2017 solar eclipse out of the US
This petition had 25 supporters
A total eclipse is scheduled to be visible from the US on 21 Aug 2017. Millions of people (including First Nations people, young hijabi women, and non-gender-conforming African Americans) would have loved to watch the spectacular event. However, they cannot safely do so any more, in this climate of officially approved racism, sexism, Islamophobia, xenophobia, homophobia and transphobia. There is a well-founded concern that the eclipse will be used as a propaganda tool by the right-wing media. Outrageously, 10 out of the 12 states crossed by the line of totality are red states.
We demand that the 2017 eclipse be cancelled or moved to a country outside the US (preferably Canada). We also demand that no further eclipses be allocated to the US until the end of the illegitimate Trump administration. Be a hero: sign this petition and send a powerful message of resistance up into the sky.
