All students studying at the Institute of Open Learning Namibia had been robbed of a supplementary exam in 2020, taking away the students opportunity to complete much needed subjects to progress onto the next academic semester and year. The institute has not made any plans reinstate the lost supplementary exams of 2020.

The institute has now opened the exam booking up to all of subjects not written in the supplementary exams of 2020 along with the new subjects of 2021 worse than this is; that the institute is forcing students to choose between writing either the exam subjects of 2020 or 2021 in the coming September exams as I.O.L are unable to accommodate all subjects in this upcoming September exams.

I.O.L has released assignments marks via text message to all students, without the students ever having seen their marked assignments to check if the marking was done fairly. The same day the assignments marks where released, I.O.L opened up the examination booking for September 2021. Students are forced to accept the assignment marks sent via text message and book for the examination based on the text message assignment marks. The students have not seen their mark assignments. They have not had time to query the assignments marks. They have not even been given a date as to when they will received the marked assignments back, yet they have to make an exam booking based on a text from I.O.L.

There are students that have not received all of their assignment marks, yet they are expected to book for the exams based on  the few assignment marks they had received.

Student demands:

- We want our marked assignments back before the examination booking period closes to allow us time to query the marked assignment results.

- We want to have 2 examination session a day to accommodate all our subjects in the 2021 September exam OR we want to write the exam subjects that we are not able to write now in the supplementary exams starting on the 29 November 2021.
