Owais Ashraf started this petition to Institute of Business Adminitration Karachi

After the 5 months of isolation/quarantine the students of the Institute of Business Administration Karachi do want to resume campus life, but not on the cost of their health and safety. The administration did make a new covid friendly policy, but some of it does not makes sense at all and might cause the spread of the virus instead of stopping it.

The attendance clause says:

Please note, if a student contracts Covid-19, he/she will not be given any leeway in attendance. Absences allowed for a course as per policy will remain inforce and no exception on medical grounds will be given. Use your absences wisely, be cautious in late comings and in skipping classes.

This clause should be revisited immediately as it is a threat to the health and safety of the students. If a student contracts covid and still attends the classes in order to save the course or in an attempt to “use the absences wisely”, he or she would end up spreading the virus and hence causing a ripple effect to families and loved ones.

If a student is tested positive for covid he/she should be immediately told to quarantine and the attendance should be compensated on the bases of the results of the test.
