Current financial curriculum within Illinois high schools are underdeveloped and inefficient. Students are entering the real world with little knowledge of how to go about making informed economic decisions because of the lack of structure and effort that is put into this curriculum. It would be in the best interest of the Illinois Board of Education to encourage economic growth and circulation, which can only be accomplished with individual participation that must be supported by an improved system of instruction. Rather than explicitly informing students of basic terminology and how to manage a 401(k), experienced investors should be leading classes that demonstrate how to survive in the competitive environment of the stock market, how to understand crypto, and the process of real estate. Some might argue that Illinois does not have the budget to provide for these classes, however, the state must spend money to make money that will result in the increased consumerism of students.
