I have introduced this change as I feel strongly after reading numerous incidents involving reckless drivers including boy racers that are causing serious accidents and near fatalities. I personally don’t feel the law and justice is adequate enough to be able to eradicate these ongoing issues and offences. We need to act now before more lives are taken by irresponsible offenders including under age without license, proven reckless drivers and those under the influence of drugs and alcohol. This is an ongoing crisis that needs more substantial sentencing that will inevitably reduce such offences causing severe injuries and fatalities. I sincerely hope you will join me in signing this petition in the view of changing the UK Law.

Currently the law states 1 year ban for careless driving which is only equivalent to having points on your license. This is not a severe enough penalty to deter offenders. A minimum of 6 years ban is required with a view of possible imprisonment.
