Menstural health and hygiene are a major part of a women's health that can't be ignored. But just talking about periods is so abnormal in our society where half of the population is female, you can just imagine how much difficulty a woman must face when she is on her periods and is outdoors. 

I am a student of a college under utkal university pursuing my masters degree. When I was in my second year of graduation, while attending a lecture I realised that my periods had started a week earlier than it should normally start. I was unprepared for this so normal but unfortunate situation, with no sanitary. The physical pain was tolerable but the mental stress I was going through is unexpressable, the fear of staining my uniform, the fear of whether any of my friends would be carrying a sanitary napkin or not, the fear of not being noticed by a male student and much more. I immediately left the classroom and ran to the girls common room, asked the girls in the room for a extra sanitary pad but no one has one. I called my friends, they left their classes and arrived but even they did not have a sanitary pad. There was an in-campus general store but to my surprise they did not sell sanitary pad. Lastly after a struggle of almost more than an hour, a senior female helped me, she had a bike and she went out of the college campus and brought a pack of sanitary napkin for me, but till then I had stained my uniform. I tried to clean the stain but the lack of detergent didn't help me much. I had to return back home using the public bus but with that stain I was ashamed and could not come out of the common room, I called my sister who left her office and came to pick me up. This incident had such a huge impact on me that I could not attend college for the following whole week and the months after were difficult for me. 

Something similar happened to a junior of mine in the college I am currently studying, when she came to me asking for a sanitary pad, I fortunately could help her out but the memories of that horrible day due to the lack of a sanitary pad in my college premises refreshed all the stress and pain. It forced me to think if this problem , which is faced by almost every women could be solved atleast in educational institutions atleast? 

Yes, I think it could be solved. And so my ask and request is to the dean of the Utkal university to install sanitary pad vending machines in every colleges under utkal university. 

This would solve the problem of all the female students studying in our university, the parents would be encouraged to send their girls for higher education, this would also promote the awareness of periods as a normal thing and not something impure but as a blessing. 

I would request all ,specially each women to help me achieve my cause which would benefit women in a larger scale, by signing this petition.
