For many years, I have had the joy of volunteering in our cherished local dog park. During this time, we have relied on the generosity of our community, using recycled bags from Walmart, Target, and similar stores to deal with the inevitable mess that comes with providing a space for our four-legged friends to roam free. However, participation in these donations and the necessary filling of the dispensers has dwindled recently, creating a problematic shortage.

Dog parks not only provide a much-needed recreational space for dogs but also represent a communal area for pet owners to interact. But the lack of proper disposal bags is threatening this community spirit. Did you know that an estimated 60% of U.S. households own a dog? Considering these numbers, the need for responsible pet waste disposal is vital in maintaining the cleanliness and appeal of these parks (American Pet Products Association, 2019-2020 National Pet Owners Survey).

We are proposing for local government or park authorities to install and maintain poop bag dispensers in our dog parks and local parks. This simple act ensures that all pet owners can easily clean up after their pets, keeping our parks clean, pleasant, and inviting for every visitor, whether two-legged or four. Let's uphold our love for the community and our pets by taking this small but significant action.
