This particular issue is important to me because Two Deaths have occurred in Summerville, SC in 2022. And it’s only April. The roadways here are not safe at night. One of the people that died, Dawn Pettis-Clark, was a personal acquaintance of my family. Dawn was walking home from work when she was struck down and left dead in the roadway. She had walked home that same road for many years. That road is dark. This Town is dark at night. We have more drivers now than we have ever had before. Having become someone who now has to drive frequently at night i have been made acutely aware of how dark these roads are. I have come very close myself, several times, to striking down a pedestrian i could not see. I can tell you, when it happens to someone you know, it’s going to hurt a lot. And it will always hurt. It doesn’t go away. Please consider signing this petition so it can be presented to the Summerville Town Council. The inadequate amount of lights must be addressed, this town has needed them for far too long. They need to be installed before another person dies. Thank you.
