Take a stroll along High Point University's Kester International Promenade and you will be greeted by dozens of flags, all representing our international students' home countries.  Algeria, Germany, South Korea, Cameroon... all reminding our international students that we see them, respect them, and appreciate the diversity on our campus.  These provide a safe space for all of our international students, and help foster an environment of inclusion while educating our domestic students on topics of cultural and ethnic diversity.

Look around the Promenade and there is one flag you won't see: Ukraine.  Back in February, it was announced that we have a Ukrainian student- one who we must stand with especially now with all the troubles happening over there.  And, why shouldn't we have a Ukrainian flag anyway?  We all need to stand by our Ukrainian friends in love and solidarity.  A flag is a very small measure, but it will remind us all to keep them in our minds and hearts, while also reminding us to be global citizens with respect and empathy for those who need it most.

Join us in petitioning High Point University to erect a Ukrainian flag!  Together, perhaps we can.
