Please install 4-way stop signs at the intersection of Sheehan Avenue and South Ellyn Avenue to protect Park View Elementary and Glen Crest Middle School students from speeding motorists on Sheehan Avenue. Speeding motorists on Sheehan Avenue are a significant problem for pedestrians and students, particularly in the morning time while people are going to work and children are headed to school. Often westbound motorists will speed after the stop signs at the intersection of Milton and Sheehan Avenue in order catch the green traffic light on Park Boulevard. Milton Avenue is set at the top of a hill and residents have noted westbound motorists accelerate to upwards of 40 - 48 mph on the stretch from Milton to Park Boulevard. This endangers Glen Ellyn children on their way to school. There have already been tragic accidents near this intersection. Installing 4-way stop signs will prevent motorists from accelerating to such high speeds before turning from Sheehan to Park Boulevard. This is a simple measure to take to prevent future tragedies. Please install stop signs before we lose a child.
