At present, anyone can set up several Instagram accounts using different email addresses. This leads to many ‘fake’ or ‘anonymous’ accounts bullying and harassing people behind fake identities. Many of us, including celebrities, young teenagers and influencers, have been affected or targeted by these accounts. It gives trolls a platform to harass people and say things they would never say in person, as they are hiding behind a fake page. There is also a big issue with these fake accounts using other peoples pictures, pretending to be that person. 

Bullying and harassment costs the lives of too many people each year, and affects the quality of life for those that are targeted by it. By Instagram requiring identity verification, these trolls would have one less platform to bully and harass people on.
