As a model and online adult content creator, I used Instagram as a main tool to grow my brand. This is common amongst the online sex worker / modeling community because Instagram is a "photo and video sharing social networking service" according to Wikipedia and a huge part of our job is photos and videos.

According to their restrictions for adult content are as stated, "For a variety of reasons, we don't allow nudity on Instagram. This includes photos, videos, and some digitally-created content that show sexual intercourse, genitals, and close-ups of fully-nude buttocks. It also includes some photos of female nipples, but photos of post-mastectomy scarring and women actively breastfeeding are allowed. Nudity in photos of paintings and sculptures is Ok, too."

I have always followed these guidelines yet have had my account deactivated countless times. Some accounts I had created as "backups" for when the current one inevitably gets taken down with no explanation from Instagram other than that my page "violated their terms and conditions". These "backup" accounts often have been taken down with ZERO or ONE photo posted.

And this isn't just happening to me, every single girl I follow that works in the same industry as me has had their Instagram deactivated the same way. Pages that promote us have been deleted, even has a BACKUP made because they know even they aren't safe. And it's not because of our content, it's because there a lot of people who dislike the sex worker community and therefore report us. I have found countless pages of models who are VERIFIED on Instagram with content that clearly breaks the guidelines listed above, but when I try to report them? I get a notification that these bigger pages DON'T violate anything. I've reported FULLY NUDE pictures just to get told the same thing. And yet girls like me create page after page simply because we have a few people out to get us on the internet, and there's nothing we can do about it.

Being constantly deleted on social media after building thousands, ten thousands, 100 thousands, even MILLIONS of followers would be devastating enough on it's own. But when Instagram is also where you're making a good portion of your living, it's even worse. But yet models like me continue to create new accounts, because the following IS there. There are so many people who support us on Instagram and would hate to see us go. And we as models and entrepreneurs love the things we can do with Instagram for our brand. But if we keep feeling as if the Instagram platform doesn't care about and support us, we will eventually just stop returning, bringing a great following with us.
