It's so obvious, but I will say it anyways, "it is the fair/right thing to do!"

Men have recently been pushed down and told by society that we are strong and shouldn’t show emotion or just ‘man up’.

Since Premier Horgan has appointed a Parliamentary Secretary for Gender Equity, Mitzi Dean, and her responsibilities include “ensuring gender equity is reflected in government budgets, policies and programs” (https://news.gov.bc.ca/releases/2018PREM0023-000215), this issue should be of importance to our current government. A friend of mine, with two children in the key early childhood development years before age 7, is struggling in this kind of situation with his ex-wife, and it is our own flawed divorce and child custody system that has played the largest role in creating the mess he’s in. More men could speak up if they know there are safe spaces and programs somewhere – it would show that they might be taken seriously.

Men are half of society. They deserve all the attention and care that Women have, especially if theses services are paid by half the taxes collected.

Healing from family trauma is real work that needs our support. The cycle of violence, pain and isolation can be broken through reaching out and providing support to families in transition. The Men's Center does caring and high quality work in this vital field.
