Give Bio-Toilets A Chance

Bio-toilets are portable toilets equipped with digester tanks that convert human excretory waste into methane and water using high graded bacteria. Bio-toilets have been installed in multiple parts of the country and the city of Mumbai and its utility has been second to none. A boon to the human-clogged slums, Bio-Toilets offer a comprehensive solution to sanitation issues.
Siddharth Nagar and Prem Nagar Slums at Worli have nearly 60% of residents defecating in the open, an issue the BMC has primarily vowed to solve. Bio-toilets being one of the most viable solutions were denied on grounds of safety and town planning. Throwing further insight into local problems, there are only 20 public toilets for 20,000 residents. Along with this, owing to the start of monsoon, these toilets have been nothing but filthy.
Hence, at Insaniyat, we have initiated this petition in order to get approval and permission for Bio-Toilets for residents of Siddharth Nagar and Prem Nagar. Everybody has a right to clean sanitation facilities and so do they.
