Unfortunately, the ON Gov't continues to stall on Dara Bowser's call for an Inquiry. This call for an Inquiry is now being considered by the new Minister of Municipal Affairs, Minister Bill Mauro - and we await his response. In the meantime, many have been asking: What might this Inquiry - if properly conducted - find? Great question! There are a number of organizations/stakeholders involved as noted by Dara Bowser in May 2015 in his initial call for this Inquiry. One key stakeholder is municipal inspection departments. (The ON Gov't has offloaded responsibilities for enforcing the Ontario Building Code (OBC) to municipalities.) The 2008 Toronto Star article found at this link http://tinyurl.com/gorrwzr continues to generate conversation and some controversy. Dara Bowser's statement (in the meme above) about how municipal inspections are funded is key to not only this HVAC situation, but to the enforcement of the OBC generally. For example, this Inquiry - if properly conducted - could find that the municipal building standards departments involved: - did not properly inspect during construction, and/or - were underfunded as a result of administrative decisions made by these municipalities. Everyone who wants to see the OBC enforced will benefit from the outcome of this Inquiry, if it is properly conducted. If you have signed this petition - thank you. If you have not, please sign it, and ask everyone you know to sign it.
