Milford Taylor has been in prison in Florida for 34 years; he has always maintained his innocence. 
There is no DNA evidence or any other physical evidence linking Mr. Taylor to the crime. Mr. Taylor's conviction relied entirely upon the victim - a 11 year old girl. Additionally, the girl never explicitly mentioned Mr. Taylor's name, as the individual who committed the crime. 

Mr. Taylor received horrible representation. Two public defendants were removed from his case and the lawyer assigned to the case had just graduated from law school and this was his first case. Mr. Taylor provided a list of witnesses who could prove his innocence, however his lawyer never called upon any of them. 

Initially, at the trial, the jury comprised 6 White and 2 Black individuals, however after a recess, the 2 Black individuals were excused and never replaced. The judge initially appointed for the case was also excused and was replaced by a retired judge Humes T. Lasher, who only presided on this case and never came back to the bench. 

The trial only lasted one day and Mr. Taylor was sentenced to 25 years to life in prison. 

Currently, Mr. Taylor has been in prison for 34 years. 34 years in prison is downright inhuman and unjust. Mr.Taylor is a victim of racial injustice & a system that has been created to harm black bodies. It is time to bring Mr. Taylor home! #FreeMilfordTaylor
