I am horrified by the new headlines and anecdotal evidence from members of the black community in Jersey City.  I keep hearing a lot about this idea of reallocating police resources or defunding the police. I have a group of residents that are interested in a public review of the detailed financial records of the JCPD so that we can perform an analysis of spending and make an informed decision about the allocation of the city's resources. I don't want to hop on a bandwagon and shout meaningless slogans without doing my homework. The information that i am curious about is the headcount, payroll numbers with OT, fixed asset schedules, legal and civil costs for misconduct complaints, the most recent Collective Bargaining Agreement and expiration dates, a trial balance and historical general ledger detail. I want this information to be made public and shared on an open source database.
