Tabby Bunyan started this petition to Influencers and

I have decided to start this petition to address the role of influencers who without a doubt encourage the fast fashion machine. We belong to a throw-away culture where we don't value the clothes we own. This has caused great environmental damage with the fashion industry being the second biggest polluter in the world. 2 million tonnes of clothing and textile waste a year are produced in the UK alone and only 16% of it is reused. Not only do these habits create huge environmental issues but humanitarian ones too, 95% of the people who make the clothes do not earn a living wage.

Hundreds of hauls videos can be found on YouTube and Instagram. They are not paid ads, they are not sponsored videos, they are the videos in which we watch as they unpack several shopping bags and parcels to show us the 20+ items they bought "just because they had to". We watch these believing we too should buy another 3 jumpers we don't need. Why not? They're only £20. Millions of people watch their videos, inspired, or manipulated to do the same.

As long as we are still bombarded with these videos and images we will forever be caught in this cycle of consumption and waste. Please sign this petition to put pressure on influencers to stop creating this kind of content. We need influencers to be promoting habits that are good for planet and people, not for the profit of huge corporations.
