Why this petition matters

Started by Evi Kalemi

First of all, classes are not being recorded which is really inconvenient for most students taking into consideration the difficult times we are living in.

Second of all the lecture slides are provided after class. This is very uncomfortable for most of us since we take notes and the easiest way is to take them next to the slides. By providing us the slides after the class, we see them for the first time during the lecture - listening to the teacher while taking notes and trying to take in what is written on the slides is very challenging.
This is made even more difficult by the fact that we aren’t provided with any break during those 2 hours (120 minutes). Despite having breakout room sessions (however the fact that some students are in the library or can’t speak at the given moment and therefore not really participate is another thing) our brains need some time to absorb properly the information intake. To support that, several studies have shown that attention and focus decrease after 50 minutes, so having a small break of even 5 minutes would be welcomed by everyone.

Last but not least, for us, the fact that for one lesson we have to work on a case study that we are required to buy for 11.20 euros is really unsuitable and irrational. Not only students do not have enough money to spare due to various reasons, but it is also illogical to buy something this expensive that will be used just one time. In any other course where case studies are to be studied on a regular basis, these are provided by the professor and are easily accessible on the Moodle page. We find this very discomforting and we fail to find logic in it.
