Coffee shops and carts at the University of New South Wales use single-use, plastic cups for their products. The issue is that the cups are non-recyclable and detrimental to the environment. We are proposing to remove the single-use cups and transition the cafes to biodegradable, single use cups and promote 'bring your own', reusable cups. This change will reduce wastage at UNSW  as well as reduce the our carbon footprint. Students and staff will always drink coffee, but there are smarter way to serve and consume our beverages. We genuinely think that the students, staff, and general campus climate will be receptive to this movement as their is already an existing green initiative. Here's to an eco-friendly coffee culture at UNSW!
