Midland Ontario celebrated Canada day this past 2022 without any indigenous groups or people teaching about their culture. Not only did this not happen but a church called Midland Alliance Church was there promoting their summer camp. This kind of inapropriate behavior coming from our town leaders needs to end. We and our children want equality for all people and want to learn about different cultures especially the indigenous cultures on Canada day. We need to make these important changes to begin the process of reconciliation and peace. I want the town of Midland to apologize for this insensitivity and moving forward promise to have the indigenous incorporated into the Canada Day celebration.
