We can’t do another semester online. Not only do we not get the same classroom experience through zoom, but we are not getting to necessary social interaction that we need to prepare us for life after school. Communication though emails and zoom is not practical for a productive learning environment. When making these changes why are the students not consulted in these decisions. Not only is being online detrimental to our learning experience it’s affecting our mental health. Being around the people we love and our friends is important while making our way though the semester. Having a support group to get through classes is necessary and communicating over phone is not enough anymore. Just like in relationships the long distance is not working anymore.
Also people have already signed leases and paid to come back next semester, and now our money is down the drain. We aren’t supposed to come back to IUP, but it’s going to happen anyways because people will use apartments they already paid for.
Give people the option if they want to take their classes online they can, but if they want to risk COVID then let them. Give the choice to the students and the professors as to how they are going to continue this semester.
