The kids should be kept safe while they are away from home getting their education and growing and enjoying the changes of life. Anytime there is a threat they should have the right to know to be aware of anything negative that could affect thier life.

This campus is embedded into the whole town. As a student here, I run/jog on campus, park at campus and often walk a few blocks off to grab a bite to eat, and would sometimes ride my bike into campus. If there is an active shooter, or serial rapist, etc... that is operating within a few blocks, it is imperative to know this. It would ABSOLUTELY change my decisions and behavior if I got an alert that there was danger in an area near campus (I would not exercise/Run in that area, i would Uber/Lyft home if I rode my bike and would be near the dangerous area, etc...)

Ball State sends out emergency alerts for the areas surrounding campus and those of heavy student population. I’d expect this out of every college. Your students are priority, keep them safe and informed!

The brickhouse guys where my neighbors last year. They were the nicest dudes just trying to let everyone have a good safe time at their house. They don't deserve any of this.

This is right near where I lived last year. I would have been outraged had I not received an alert from IU Notify. Additionally, those tenants should not be held accountable and kicked out in regards to the actions of others.

I am a recent IU alum, and while I am consistently disappointed by the action, or more specifically NONACTION, of my
alma mater, this has shocked me. I am disgusted by the actions and decisions made by IU (so transparently to distance itself from this event from a PR standpoint) and wish I could take back every cent I ever gave to such a deplorable institution that obviously does not care about its students in the slightest. Shame on you.
