MOVE INDIANA STATE ONLINE/LOWER TUITION COST
Hi Family, Staff, Faculty, & Students of Indiana State University.
My name is Rachael and I’m a student of ISU. I appreciate ISU’s faculty and staff efforts in trying to remain a traditional University by not moving all classes online. In addition, I also appreciate them preparing students on how to remain safe and healthy as school begins.
In writing on behalf of ISU students, I feel that the impact of COVID-19 will strike and devastate many students this fall semester. The cases of this infectious virus are rising in Vigo County as many students begin to return back to campus or in town for the new school year. Personally I know of a few students who’ve tested positive for COVID-19 and are now being quarantine. It has been reported, our very own football team have 6 students athletes who’ve tested positive for this virus and they are tested weekly. In addition, a student athlete on the women’s basketball team have tested positive for this virus as well on the 25th of July. These events are showing us how the beginning of the school year will start, which are students coming to class not knowing they are sick and still infecting other students. This act alone will cause cases to rise . I know that the staff/faculty would do their best to try to keep everyone safe and healthy but the fact is it’s inevitable. Indiana State should keep dorms open or available to people who need a place to stay during this time as well as LOWERING TUITION COST to suffice online tuition requirements. President Curtis announced that after Thanksgiving the remaining semester would be online. Also, she has canceled Homecoming and should have canceled the football game as well. With the following reports, these couple of weeks leading up to school beginning we can assume that the COVID-19 will rise, especially in classrooms that don’t meet the 6-feet social distance requirements. As a student of ISU, I am asking if you can please sign this petition so President Curtis can cancel all in-person classes until Spring 2021 due to the safety of Indiana State University faculty, staff, and students.
Take the initiative! Use your voice and write a letter to President Curtis. I’ve listed below her email and her office number which are both open to the public on the Indiana State University website.
