Eric Garcia started this petition to Indiana State Senate and

The right of the people to keep and bear arms is intrinsic to the identity of Hoosiers and Americans at large. Therefore, it is our duty to protect this right against all infringements. As such, we oppose SB0203 and demand it be dismissed.

Restricting the sale of firearms to those 21 and older is not only unconstitutional, but hypocritical. At 17 years of age, any boy can, with parental approval, join the armed forces. Upon his 18th birthday, he no longer needs parental approval. How then, can it be justified to restrict their ownership of a firearm when more dangerous weapons would be issued to them before age 20?

The restriction of firearms to 10 round magazines is likewise a pointless infringement on our rights. Such laws have not stopped shootings, such as Columbine, and ultimately weaken the common citizen's ability to defend themselves. It is in the People's interest that such magazines be kept legal, as police cannot be expected to respond to every call in mere moments.

The brazen attempt to push through such sweeping legislation is an affront to Hoosiers. Further, it's blind to the repercussions in other states and cities that have enacted similar legislation. Chicago, NYC, California, and others suffer more and worse shootings than states and cities with strong gun cultures. Nothing good can come from this legislation.

That is why we again ask to have SB0203 dismissed and any similar bills likewise rejected.
