Diwali is a festival which Hindus, Jains, and Sikhs all celebrate new beginnings. However, as of late, Diwali has been falling on school days, right around Midterms for many of us here whether in college or in school. Since it falls on school days, students do not spend time with their family and that is one of the big values of Diwali. If Diwali was a recognized religious holiday, then families would be able to pray together in the morning if they choose to and then celebrate their traditions.
