Senator James Arnold: Require Carbon Monoxide Detectors In Homes & Multi Family Buildings
Sep 4, 2013 — Dear Concerned Citizen,
Thank you for taking the time to contact me regarding your support for the mandatory installation of carbon monoxide detectors in apartment buildings.
There is no requirement that landlords install carbon monoxide detectors in Indiana, nor are they required to test the carbon monoxide level in the home. They are, however, required to install a working smoke detector.
The Indiana General Assembly is not currently in session. However, I will certainly consider your suggestion for the 2014 legislative session.
Thank you again for sharing your concern with me.
Jim Arnold, Indiana State Senator
Senate District # 8
