Renew the current UCSO Contract without modification

Council Members Robert Allen and Darlene Luther are trying to demand unrealistic and unwarranted provisions in the contract between the Union County Sheriff's Office and the Town of Indian Trail to provide Law Enforcement and Public Safety Services to the Residents and Businesses of Indian Trail. The Goal of Council Members Robert Allen and Darlene Luther are to put into jeopardy the contract for services which will require the creation of a local police department.
Indian Trail has enjoyed the professional services provided by the Union County Sheriff's Office since 1989. The UCSO currently provides, as part of the contract, over 22 sworn deputies, detectives, administrative, and other essential staff and management thereof, as well as Drug Enforcement, SWAT Team capabilities, Bomb Squad, and Crime Scene Investigation, to provide Law Enforcement. And all of these services, with the wealth of law enforcement experience, is provide to the Indian Trail Community at a cost of only $1.5 million per year! Because the Council has not sanctioned a study to provide the same level of law enforcement and Public Safety Service Indian Trail has enjoyed since 1989, the costs to start a Police Department is unknown. However, when comparing the same geographical and population size with neighboring towns, the estimated yearly cost to Residents to provide the same level of service is estimated at $6 million! And this cost does not include the start up costs - that is only the operational costs!
Don't let Council Members Allen and Luther sabotage the current contract negotiations. Tell Council Members Allen and Luther, as well as the remaining Council Members that it's time to sign the current Contract, as is, without modification.
