It is a known fact that customers can deny service charge according to Indian law but restaurants and bars/pubs are issuing a menu with hideous clauses where they state that 'service charges' are levied. Customers are realising it only while paying the bill. This is a serious concern because of misleading information. If the restaurants want to charge service charge which is not mandatory THEY SHOULD ASK CUSTOMER's PERMISSION AND THEN ADD IT IN THE FINAL BILL. Mere mentioning will not suffice. I need to consciously agree prior to services. If I don't agree I can still avail service and not pay service charge. I don't want to be a victim of business tactics. I'm a law abiding citizen and I want to stand by it.
