Train numbers 16231 /16232 & 16235 / 16236 Running via Erode at present. If the train is diverted via Namakkal it will avoid the reversal at Erode which Will cut 20-30mins in travelling time. At present both the pairing trains take 2hours 30mins to cover Salem - Karur sections, if its diverted via Namakkal it will take 1hour 30mins to cover Salem - Karur section. Erode is well connected by trains to Bangalore. Both the trains runs half empty in Mysore - Bangalore sections. Erode to Mysore most of them uses bus as it takes in four hours. The same four hours by train from erode they will near to Bangalore & for mayors they have to travel another four hours. So these trains has to be diverted via the unused new section Salem - Karur via Namakkal for the benefit of travellers as they can reach their destination an hour before on both directions.

Via Namakkal will save 40kms & one hour of travel time.
